Every vintage item has its own unique history, and if it could talk, then this beautiful crafted ceramic vase by Ditmar Urbach of Czechoslovakia could probably tell you of a few good parties. Maybe invite her to a party at your home? 

Unusual design, this beautiful Mid Century modern ceramic glazed vase has a nice heft in the hand. It comes from a storied pottery producer Ditmar Urbach in the 1960s in former Czechoslovakia. But way back in 1878, Dr. Rudolf Ditmar in Znojmo opened the ceramic factory Ditmara, the first of its kind in Europe. It started operating in 1880, the production was focused mainly on dishes and rustic majolica. After 1884, production focused mainly on medical and utility ceramics, washbasins, baths and sinks made of refractory clay. And they, thanks to their quality, have found sales in markets throughout Europe. The company, which was run at the time by brothers Richard and Oskar Lichtenstern, had branches in Prague, Milan, Zurich, Hamburg, but also in distant Mumbai, and employed up to 600 people. In 1920, it merged with the Teplice company Bratři Urbachové, four years later the company Ditmar – Urbach was established, renamed Ostmark – Keramik AG during the German occupation. In 1945, the factory was nationalized. At that time, it also significantly modernized and bore the name Keramické závody Znojmo.  was made by a well known  Dark green and brown structured design, high shine glaze.
