In the late 13th and through most of the 14th centuries, populations from the Hopi Mesas and elsewhere around the Colorado Plateau came together along the Little Colorado River (Paayu in the Hopi language) to form a cluster of seven villages. This volume describes the history of one of those villages, Homol’ovi II Pueblo, and work there by the Arizona State Museum of the University of Arizona. Homol’ovi II was founded around AD 1360 and quickly grew to one of the two largest pueblos. These ancestral Hopi villages are protected today within Homolovi State Park. Climatic and political changes led to the occupants leaving all of the villages by 1400, with most of the population joining growing villages at the Hopi Mesas.
