Popular Science - 1960, 62, 65, 66 1st Ed - Blueprints, Schematics - NM, MINT

Funky Christmas / Everyday Funky

These magazines were found in a locked glass bookcase in my father-in-law's upstairs office.  They are in NEAR MINT or MINT condition.  The spine is unbroken.  There are no dust jackets.  Actual front and back covers have minimal damage. No marks or highlighting in text.  Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked.  Cover lies flat.  Some color photographs.  Illustrated, collectible, 1st edition.

These magazines are in mostly NEAR MINT or MINT condition.  All information is still there, and readable.  The worst parts are the spines, which oddly look like some sort of glue issue, like it bled through and discolored it.  Also, please note, these magazines are stapled together and then glued into the cover.  We really do think it is the glue.  Also note, that the table of contents is right after the staples, so the pages look wrinkled.  They're not really; it's the pull of the staples.  Also note, the pullo of the staples also have small tears on the table oof contents page.  This is INCREDIBLY thin paper for this time period.  Please see pictures.

He stored them with a bunch of Popular Mechanics in a cardboard box in a locked 2 shelf small bookcase upstairs in his house.  Unfortunately, there was space still left in the box and he stored them upright.  There is NO evidence of water so any waves you see in the pictures should even out eventually.  They are NOT bent; just very slightly wavy.  The Popular Mechanics are more so than the Popular Science cz they had much thinner paper.  Also, when we pulled them out of the bookcase, I thought they smelled musty.  I asked my 14 year old if it smelled musty, and he says 'it smells like an old book, you know, like the library'.  You have to decide if he knows what he is talking about.  :)  Finally, these are weird covers.  Many issues have a cover that is about 1/4 inch shorter than the pages with a folded coupon that could be used for various purchases.  It's not cut in the pictures; it was designed that way.  All issues have a mailing address on the front cover.

We found another group of these Popular Science in a different part of the office and added them to this listing.  Same issues with the spines and glue.  Also, we stored the first group flat and there is now almost no wave and the mags lie flat.

These are incredible magazines that would NOT be allowed today.  Build your own personal helicopter?  Grenade launcher?  We don't think so.  And no, we do not drive 120 MPR in the 'future'.   PLEASE read the abbreviated table of contents we made.  There are so many other articles and sections in the table of contents we took pictures of too.

Please see pictures.  Descriptions of individual listings are found below.  Individual pictures are found above the price on this page on the drop down menu.

Please NOTE: Old books are heavy books.  Safe shipping may move them into the next postal category.  Sorry!

Please NOTE:  We live in Michigan and it is winter.  We have the Lake Effect almost every day – massive cloud cover.  We are doing the best we can with interior lighting for the pictures.

Also, please NOTE:  Almost every book has a smudge somewhere.  We mention it if we see it, but please assume we missed something.

PLEASE NOTE: Because eBay is composed of soulless, bloodsucking monsters, and because it is forcing us to use an ISBN number for a book that DOES NOT have an ISBN number, and even when it DOES have an ISBN, still won’t let us use it, so we use one of a random book. Our book is pre-ISBN numbers. The Library of Congress number is non-existent. The LOC does not hyphenate when you put the number in to verify. Fake ISBN number is 9781014236289.  Correct ISBN number is non-existent.  We put in whichever one the system will take. Sorry!

Note: We are running out of estate books and will be slowly changing over to their other possessions – some serious, some MCM, some just funky, or kitschy.  Others are Depression era.  Some will be brand new items, still in their packaging, and others will be more mainstream books (from one of the Grandma’s) or some of our personal books or collectables, as we are not leaving this mess to our kids.  We hope you fun and stay with us.

Shipping – All books are shipped on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday on the first day possible after payment is received around 8 to 9 AM. They are shipped by Media Mail in heavy brown paper, similar to a grocery paper bag.  All wrapping and shipping materials are recycled from the cardboard to bubble wrap to 50 year old envelopes. Our packages are ugly, but are very carefully wrapped to arrive safely.  We always refund shipping credit if you buy multiple items.  Free local pick up.  We refund your shipping charges!

Please help us recycle these lovingly cared for curios in an environmentally friendly manner.
