this is a wonderful impressionistic oil painting by Hillary T. Hibbard depicting a group of fishing vessels resting in a harbor in the Rockport / Cape Ann area in the  Northshore of Massachusetts - it appears to be a very bright summer day with a nice pale blue sky interspersed with puffy white clouds floating in the sky - the fishing vessels are all moored in their dock berths, & the view that the very talented artist has painted shows the rear of the fishing boats - from that perspective, we see a large variety of masts unfurled of their sails pointing vertically at the sky - all of the boats seem to be painted with various shades of green on their hull bottoms -

the white & off-white fishing boat cabins &equipment juxtapose well versus the dull gray-brown shades of the harbor office & fishing shack on the left of the painting - the harbor water was done with an amazing mixture of green, blue, off-white & silver colors to depict the water surface & the many reflections of the fishing boats on the water - in essence, this is a lovely impressionistic oil painting done by Hillary  T. Hibbard who is the talented granddaughter of the late great impressionistic painter Aldro Hibbard who was famous for his Rockport/Cape Ann oil paintings & was a founder of the Rockport Art Assoc. -

Hillary was bornin 1975 in Virginia City, Nevada & received her BFA degree in painting from the Univ. of Nevada in Reno in 2001 - she had many exhibitions in the Sheppard Fine Arts Gallery & the Sierra Art Foundation - although she is a native of the west, Hillary spent much time studying the paintings of Aldo Hibbard & his interpretations of the Rockport Harbor & Cape Ann areas - she wishes to return to those artistic roots in the future -

the painting measures 14" x 18" sight size & is in very good condition - it is enhanced by its original gilded wooden frame which measures 17" x 21", & is also in very good condition -
