Rare Meiji Period 2 Old/Antique 2 PC  Japanese Kutani Kiln Signed /marked incised at the bottom Porcelain Foo Dog Statues W/Swords (Koma Inu (shi-shi) with sword in mouth.)

These two opposing males, their paws resting on the pierced brick red ball which symbolizes domain over the world with tiered and gold gilded decor.  Both have intact gold/black enamel swords in their mouths with red cord tassels.  Magnificent proud tails and highly curled manes.


Extravagantly hand painted with gold over fine white porcelain, highlighted throughout with raised intricate white, green, & red enamel work. Intricately well done by the artisians. Great to excellent condition for age, well kept and had been displayed for years. No chips, nor breaks, nor grazing, nor repairs.
