This is a large heavy original Mancalla game board with all its original playing pieces consisting of a group of 58 seed pods, the original material with which this game was played.

It is 38 x 9 x 13 inches and the main playing surface is supported by four carved figures which themselves are supported by the base which is decorated with carved cowrie shells.

The main game board is also decorated with ribbons of hand carved cowrie shells and at the ends of the main board are hands with large carved cups to hold the game pieces.

This entire impressively large board is hand carved from one piece of dense, heavy wood which may be African mahogany or ebony or another such dense native wood.
