Item Overview :

This photo is of Jerry Lewis dressed up as a clown, and was gifted to Norman & Sue Taurog. Norman was a heavy hitting movie Director during the Golden Era of Hollywood, and Sue was his wife. Norman Taurog was hugely responsable for Jerry's success.The photo is signed "To Normie and Sue With Love : Your Comic" The picture is matted and framed in an expensive looking silver plate frame (patina). The writing is on the matting, so the photograph is not personalized. This came directly from the Estate of Norman Taurog.

Condition : The photo is in mint condition, the matting is starting to tone a bit, text by Jerry Lewis is in blue ink, unsigned by the comedian. Size : "14 x 11" including frame. Weight : 1.8 Pounds.

Norman Taurog (1899 – 1981) was an American film director and screenwriter. From 1920 to 1968, Taurog directed 180 films. At the age of 32, he received the Academy For Best Director for Skippy (1931), becoming the youngest person ever to win the award for eight and a half decades present until his record was broken. He directed some of the best-known actors of the twentieth century, including his nephew Jackie Cooper, Spencer Tracy, Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and Elvis Presley. Taurog directed six Martin & Lewis films, and nine Elvis Presley films, more than any other director.

For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Taurog has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1600 Vine Street.


Jerry Lewis (1926 – 2017) was an American comedian, actor, singer, filmmaker and humanitarian, who in 1946, teamed up with Dean Martin to form Martin and Lewis, before going as a "solo" stage act, movie star and singer in 1956. Lewis was an early and prominent user of Video assist, which allows real-time review of how a scene looks on camera.

Lewis performed in concert stages, nightclubs, casinos, theaters, music recordings, radio and starred in 118 film and television productions throughout his career. While nicknamed as "The King of Comedy" in the United States, Lewis was also known as "Le Roi du Crazy" in France.

From the late 1940s to the mid-1960s, "Lewis was a major force in American popular culture. Widely acknowledged as a comic genius, Lewis influenced generations of comedians, comedy writers, performers and film makers.
