The Martin was patented in 1948, but the fastener was patented in 1950, so am thinking this must be a 1950s bag!

A wonderful shape in vintage alligator skin, made in Birmingham, UK.

The handle is worn and soft, the bag is quite sturdy and is sold in vintage condition with the odd imperfection, but overall very nice!

The brass lever flicks the bag open in one smooth motion, revealing one inner pocket and the manufacturer’s label with patent numbers.

The colour is a rich chestnut brown, which looks redder in some lights!

The bag measures wide 32.5cm x 19cm high x 10.5cm deep. Suede inside, with a single pocket.

There’s a small flaw in the brass on the lever, see photo.

A gorgeous, boxy bag with plenty of room for life’s essentials!
