ORIGINAL ROARING LION PORTRAIT GELATIN SILVER PHOTOGRAPH FROM 'THE ROLAND BUTLER COLLECTION RBB&B PRESS AGENT'
This is just a great original piece. For those who follow my store, you know I have been buying and selling a lot of photography lately. I will be listing some of what I recently acquired this week. A great chance to add some incredible photographs to any collection. This is one of 2 original photographs I recently acquired from a Pennsylvania collector. These both come out of and are stamped from "The Roland Butler Collection RBB&B press agent. Roland Butler was one of the most important figures in the history of Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus. He started out as a jack of all trades including the illustrator for many posters eventually becoming the official Press Agent and then ascended all the way to the Director of the circus. If you google him you will find his history as well as some of his posters for sale. Much of his other items are in institutions and libraries.
This is an incredible gelatin silver photograph portrait of one of the one of the lions roaring with the others. A truly stunning large portrait measuring 10 x 8 inches. Photograph is on cardboard mount. Photo is in excellent condition. Otherwise it is really a stunning original. On the back of the cardboard is the original stamp from the Butler collection. Do your own research on this photograph. His images and items rarely come to market and when they do, they are usually priced much higher.
