antique diamond ring

It's a pleasure to offer this alluring Georgian miniature painting circa 1840 - 1850 housed in the original frame complete with frame makers stamp(please see above for image).

The subject appears to be Elizabeth Hamilton, Countess of Gramont draped in a pale blue gown, hair in ringlets  as a baroque pearl earring drops silently against her.

An historical record of beauty and poise from a period when people were immortalised within  the brushstrokes of great artists.

My ebay user ID stems from my love of flowers, the Vanda cristata is a species of orchid found in the Himalayas and I see wandering through a Himalayan orchid filled lane as a beautiful vision.

Thereupon Vandalane was born.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to be here as I greatly appreciate the support of the ebay community!

My name is Alison and I am that person who has passion for various areas of antiques. My love started with Australian Colonial furniture which led me to Georgian sterling and jewellery, offering me unique opportunities that I am ever grateful.

Many people ask me this and my response is that collecting is a hunt, we all love antique fairs and auctions - ebay offers the hunt.

You will find me selling a combination of Auction & Buy it now(with offer), if I can secure an item for a good price I will always try and pass on the saving as I firmly believe an item is worth what someone is willing to pay.

More so I actually enjoy ebay, all the wonderful people I've come to know through here and the art of listing items - it is a creative process that I thoroughly enjoy.

While the internet is a fine source of information I cannot recommend highly enough the importance of actual reference books. My current favourites:

London Goldsmiths 1697- 1837 Their Marks and Their Lives by Arthur G.Grimwade
Silver Novelties in the Gilded Age 1870 - 1910 by Deborah Crosby
Jackson's Silver & Gold Marks edited by Ian Pickford
