Up for sale is this wonderful and rare antique miniature / mini oval painting of Catherine the Great perhaps from the 18th to 19th C and framed in an ornate brass or bronze ormolu frame with fine floral design and intricate openwork.

It is labeled on the back CATHERINE THE GREAT.

The detail is absolutely amazing and it is signed by the artist in the lower right side. Looks like AK or AH or Alh. Her hair is wonderful and she is wearing her gold necklace and a beautiful diamond ring. Her ornate dress has large pearls dangling.

What a magnificent antique oval portrait painting of the late and the reigning empress of Russia from 1762 to 1796. Also known as Catherine II, she came into power after overthrowing her husband, Peter III.

The frame is also signed with a “Czechoslovakia” mark.

Extremely rare collectible and likely Russian painted or possibly French or English.

You will not find another one like this piece in your lifetime! It is a one-of-a-kind work of art!

The frame measures 5.1” inches long by 4.2” inches wide (13 cm, 10.7 cm).
