THE NEW YOST YEAR 1891

 

Beautiful antique New Yost typewriter, manufactured in approximately 1891, by Yost Writing Machine Company, Bridgeport, USA.

Yost was one of the fathers of the typewriter and he invented a unique and very complex hitting system. When you press a key, one of the type bars that are located in a circle moves towards the center making a series of incredible movements in order to hit the paper from below, while the character must fit into a small notch located in the center. This system is therefore impressive.

The Yost is a hidden writing typewriter and to see what is being written you have to lift the carriage. It has a double keyboard, so uppercase and lowercase letters have independent keys. This machine is in very good condition. The machine works correctly. It retains the base and the original wooden case.
