DOUBLE THALES GEO Nº1 YEAR 1930

Old Thales GEO Nº1 double calculator, manufactured between 1930 and 1940 by Thaleswerk G.m.b.H. Rechenmaschinen-fabrik, in Rastatt, Germany.

This rare calculator was used to perform topographical calculations.

In 1911, Emil Schubert, head of the TriumphatorWerke calculator company, teamed up with L. Haberer to create the Thales firm and thus begin manufacturing their own calculating machines. The Thales company obtained great commercial success due to Max Mueller, who was an important businessman. He had to leave the company in 1933 after being convicted of embezzlement. In 1936, Emil Schubert had to abandon his own company and the Nazi German government took it over. Years later, Schubert again founded a calculator manufacturing company under the name "Schubert." After World War II, Max Mueller returned to the Thaleswerk company and took charge of it until 1965, the year in which the company closed permanently.

As we have indicated previously, this machine was used to perform topography calculations. There are pages on the Internet where they tell you how to drive and what calculations you can do on them. In essence, they are two calculators joined together, with a double drum and a double totalizer, and one part or both can be used at the same time. Made of glossy black enamelled metal. It is preserved in very good aesthetic condition, except for some small scratches typical of use. Works correctly.
