Description

Offered today is a heavy, well-made vintage mid-century modernist 14k white gold wide band amethyst solitaire ring. Amethyst is the birthstone of February, and has long been been said to have "healing properties," if you're into that! The amethyst has great color saturation--a deep grape purple color throughout.

This ring features a 14 x 10 mm amethyst, approximately 6.50 carats in size. It's secured by four prongs in a nice thick sturdy head. The unusual setting has a wide five-split-shank design, with a polished area at the inside of the finger, which could be used for sizing, if necessary.

The amethyst is in very good condition with no scratches to the surface. I see one teeny tiny "flea bite" to each of the side edges of the girdle (underneath stone), only visible under a loupe.

The face measures 5/8" top to bottom and the head sits up 1/4" off the hand. It is hallmarked 14k, weighs 5.2 grams and is a size 6.25. It is in very good vintage condition.
