I went on an alpaca binge and bought ponchos in many colors. In never wore this one. Let’s talk alpaca, this must be a blend although it doesn’t have a fiber tag. It is obviously a predominantly alpaca cape, I bought it as that and it’s very much like my others. As a fiber artist I adore alpaca and spin 100% alpaca on my spinning wheel. You don’t want 100% alpaca. It’s just too fragile. At home I tend to blend it with a bit of lamb’s wool. I’m sure this alpaca has something blended into it, which is a good thing. I would wager that most ponchos that are described as 100% alpaca are not. You gotta slip a little sumthin’ sumthin’ in there to make it more durable. They all seem to come from South America. This poncho/cape is extremely soft and one of the best features of alpaca is that it is light yet very warm but…this one is more substantial and cut slightly larger than others I have. It’s one of the few items that one size really does fit all. I love it. Oh, the measurements: if you hold your arms out to the side it 48” from wrist to wrist and 333” from shoulder to hem.
