This rare medal is one of 50 in Franklin Mint's "OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES" Series.  The set was issued from 1976 to 1980 under the direction of the International Olympic Committee to commemorate the greatest moments in the modern Olympic games beginning in 1896.
  • The obverse features Fanny Blankers-Koen of the Netherlands who won 4 Olympic titles in 80 m, 100 m, 200 m hurdles and 4 x 100 m)
  • The reverse features a laurel wreath with the Olympic Rings symbol and information on the featured athlete.  "Winner of four gold medals, Fanny Blankers-Koen was the top star of the 1948 Games."
  • Only 5,382 silver copies of this medal were issued.
  • Weight: 20 grams
  • Diameter: 40 mm
  • Thickness: 3 mm
  • The original storage capsule is included.  The capsule has signs of handling.
