Hong Kong Lion Head Bonds (Denomination: 500 Million HK Dollars)

What you see listed above are 10 Hong Kong Lion Head Bonds with a face value of 500 Million Hong Kong Dollars.  These notes will be accepted at a redemption center (they are #216 on the bond redemption list:  https://dinarchronicles.com/2021/06/06/nick-fleming-the-list-of-bonds-6-6-21/ ).

Warning:  As with many other numismatic currency notes on the bond list, these notes are novelty items and can only be monetized through redemption, meaning you cannot take them to a bank and expect to be able to cash out.  The same is true for old historical bonds like Super petchilis or 1924 German External Loan Bonds.  These assets likewise, only have numismatic value, not commercial value so the only way they can be monetized is through a redemption center or an authorized buyer in tier 3.

According to two sources I know, the rates on these are quite high at least with some buyers in tier 3, and even this document seems to confirm it: https://www.scribd.com/document/580552945/Us-Treasury-Historical-Asset-Purchase-Program (scroll down to the bottom of the first page and you'll see a crazy high rate just for just one note!).  I personally don't think t4b will get to enjoy such a high rate, but the rate may still be something very generous.

Keep in mind, there are many different versions or variations of these notes, however, I know with absolute certainty that these specific notes will be accepted at redemption.  I can't speak for any other kinds of similar looking notes (some of which are a different color, on different paper, different denominations, with slightly different designs and with radically different blacklight images), but I sold off a box of these notes to a friend 2 years ago, and in early August of 2023, while I was having dinner with him, he received a call stating all his notes were authenticated in connection to a deal with an authorized buyer in tier 3 (and I had no idea he even submitted them to a buyer!), meaning these same notes that I have listed here are redeemable too.

You may be wondering:  "If you know they are redeemable, and if they really are so valuable, why are you selling them?"  I get this question over and over.  Here's my answer:  Because I still have to bills to pay and debts I have to deal with.

Fortunately, I still have plenty for my appointment, so I'm okay with parting with some of these notes.

As with all my listings, I always include extras as a gift (and feel free to pay it forward!)

Domestic orders of $100 or more get to enjoy free USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground Shipping (which can sometimes be cheaper and faster than USPS depending on distance).

ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Combined shipping for international customers is finally working properly again!  For International buyers who would like to combine shipping, be sure to add the items to the cart, then select 'request total from seller' and place the order.  That enables me to adjust the shipping cost.

Orders to Canada typically arrive within 2 business days. (Canadians, make sure to choose UPS Standard to Canada to save on shipping costs, it will still be shipped via UPS Worldwide Express.)

Other international orders typically arrive within a week via UPS Worldwide Express Shipping.  However, depending on customs and other international shipping factors, it may take longer to arrive.

Note - some international addresses may be considered too remote by UPS, and as a result they will charge an Extended Area Surcharge, which often ends up causing the total shipping cost to go to $80 or more.  If this is the case, I can ship it via priority mail international (which is the same price but takes 2-3 weeks to arrive) or if you provide an alternate shipping address that UPS doesn't consider too remote, I should be able to ship it.  And if neither option works, I can simply cancel the transaction and you would receive a refund.
