ORIGINAL 1980 GLENN APPLEMAN RED BUICK SIGNED COOKIE JAR

This is just a great original piece.  In my first year of business (21 years ago) I was introduced to Glenn Appleman cookie jars. I had no idea what they were but saw a collection of them sell at auction for astronomical prices. I have been on the lookout for them since, having seen a few sell but never been able to purchase them. Recently I was looking at an Automobilia collection and found this and the other Appleman I am offering.  If you collect these, check my store for the other I am offering.  If you collect car stuff, also check out the really rare original vintage car paintings.   Appleman car cookie jars are really some of the most desired and collected pieces of the 20th Century. This is a wonderful example of his work being a red Buick. The cookie jar measures about 16 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 9 inches tall. Outstanding original condition. There are 2 issues to mention.  The chrome bumper shows some crackling and it looks like early in the life it lost a bit of the glaze that was then over painted.  It might even have been done before it left the studio as the coloring is outstanding and really a great match.  The other issue is along the inner edge of the opening hole in the car body shows some very minor paint loss.  You can see the white porcelain showing through at that very edge.  Really neither issue is anything of concern.   Just an outstanding example of his work. Signed and dated on the bottom of the car. The bottom of the wheels even have some original old green felt to keep the bottom from scratching any surfaces. I think, like most Applemans, this was never used and more kept as the sculpture that it is.  If you collect Applemans check my store for the other I am also offering.  Add $15 more for S&H&I if you purchase both.
