The House of Worth in France specialized in high quality beaded gowns. The Worth name has gone through many iterations since the early 1900’s but had maintained quality high end clothing in the US including beaded clothes done with great expertise. This skirt well deserves the Worth name. It is delicate and so very lovely. The beading is done so well that I cannot find one bead missing. The beaded outer layer is done on a sheer silk and the underskirt is a solid silk fabric. I would describe the color as ecru. It is quite evident that it was painstakingly hand done back in the day. I am a senior and remember my grandmother sewing sequins and bugle beads on her sweaters as the ladies coveted the expensive beaded fashions they saw in stores. This is a red carpet skirt. Measurements laying flat waist is 14”, length is 22”.
