The basic and one of the most frequently used protection automation devices are overcurrent circuit breakers. They are used to limit the effects of short circuits and overloads of electrical installations. A current flowing through the circuit with a value that is too high in relation to the rated current of the circuit breaker causes it to turn off and interrupt the powered circuit. Turning off the power is intended to protect equipment and installations from damage, protect people from electric shock and, ultimately, prevent fire. Long-term overload of the installation significantly accelerates the aging of the insulation. The modular 1P C 20A CLS6 270352 miniature circuit breaker is manufactured by Eaton. It is a single-module, single-pole device with a rated current of 20A and operating in accordance with the type C trigger characteristics. Devices with such characteristics are most often used in circuits in which power devices with high starting currents (motors, transformers) are used. The operating limit of the thermal bimetallic release for this type of circuit breaker is from 1.13 to 1.45 times the rated current of the circuit breaker. However, the electromagnetic release is activated when a current occurs in the range of 5 to 10 times the rated current of the circuit breaker. The circuit breakers offered by EATON have extensive additional equipment, i.e. auxiliary contacts, releases and housings. They are designed for quick installation on a TS35 mm standard rail. The short-circuit breaking capacity of this circuit breaker is set at 6kA.
