Hand written cover envelope in the hand of King Edward VII as Prince of Wales in 1898 to Lady Archibald Campbell 

Has a lilac one penny stamp in the right hand corner and is date stamped for 1898 

Addressed to Lady Archibald Campbell, 14 Hill House, Rutland Gate, S.W. 

Edward was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Edward VII was king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Emperor of India from 1901 until his death in 1910.  He had a reputation as a playboy Prince and had mistresses throughout his married life. 

Lady Archibald Campbell was orphaned at the age of four and became a ward of the 8th Duke of Argyll.  In 1869 she married the Duke's second son, Lord Archibald Campbell.  After moving to London in the 1870's they entered the Capital's artistic elite.

 Below the envelope is a slip saying 'Hand Written Cover Envelope in the hand of King Edward VII as Prince of Wales 1898 to The Lady Archibold Campbell' 

The envelope measures 5" x 4".  The mounted frame measures 6" x 8.25"
