British Copper Penny.... 1806 ....good overall condition but dates are worn off..but NOTE that these coins were only issued in 1806 & 1807,,,,to address a small change shortage.

These were  used in Australia after a large quantity arrived on  two ships,in 1826 and 1827.
They are often called Proclamation Coins, but are not the true Proclamation Coins, which,in the cases of pennies, would be the 1797 British cartwheel penny. The 1797 pennies were proclaimed by the governor to officially trade at 2d..due to the shortage of coins in Australia, and were not allowed to be sent out of the country.
However, these 1806-7 coins that arrived on those ships, were  currency in Early Australia for many, many years.

Postage is FREE.
