For more than 40 years, the UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) lists the sites that are part of the “world heritage cultural property sites”. Since 2007, Monnaie de Paris honours various monuments included in this list in a series of collector coins. From 2019, this thematic is expanding one more time all over the world. In 2023, the National Palace of Sintra or Pena Palace in Portugal and Ferdinand II will be honoured. On the obverse of this coin is engraved the portrait of Ferdinand II, King Consort of Portugal from 1837 to 1853 and originator of this palace. The mosaics were inspired by those in the palace. The UNESCO logo, the "RF", the hallmarks and the year 2023 are also present. The reverse of the coin shows a view of the National Palace of Pena. The mosaics of the palace have also been used on the reverse. The particularity of the €10 Silver coin is that it is coloured with the colours of the Palace: red, purple, blue and yellow.
