These transformers comes from a vintage professional tape recording machine. These were used as tape head to amplifier matching.

It is PERFECT for MC-step-up, very special for it's unusual impedance and turns ratio. Will match lower impedance cartridges of 5-15 ohms primary to the 30 ohms primary of a WE 618A or 618B, or others like 50 ohms Dukane and Altec, etc...

This is a very rare find at 1:2 turns ratio and a low impedance on the the primary. So, if you plug it into between a low impedance cartridge and a WE 618A or 618B transformers, that both had 30 ohms primary, you get 7.5 ohms reflected on your MC cartridges.

For a DUKANE 3A25 type, with a 50 ohns primary, it will reflect a 12.5 ohms load to the cartridge.

It will work very well down to a 4 ohms impedance on the MC side, and up to 15 ohms.

Here's is a list of possible uses:

4:16 ohms

5:20 ohms

6:24 ohms

7:28 ohms

7.5:30 ohms (WE 618 types)

8:32 ohms

9:36 ohns

10:40 ohms

12.5:50 ohms (Dukane, Altec, Triad, UTC, etc)

Perfect with most vintage microphone transformers people used nowadays like Altec 4722, UTC A-10, WE 618A and WE 618B, Dukane 3A25 and 3A55, etc.

An input groud lift switch is included. These will disconnect and float the RCA connections from the chassis.

Output is always grounded on cold side. You can use balanced or unbalanced.

Input is through RCA x2 connectors.

Output is a single XLR connected as Stereo:

Pin1 - Ground (cold)

Pin2 - Left channel + (hot)

Pin3 - Right channel + (hot)

Paint job is rough and overall construction is raw. Looks vintage and kinda mysterious and rare.

Transformers and RCA connectors are glued to the chassis with strong acrylic glue.

It's overall basic and crude construction.

Sounds awesome, though.

And, all and all, it looks vintage and unique.

If you are into collecting and experimenting with multiple MC step-up unit, don't let this one pass. You will probably never see anything alike for sale, ever again.

I collect professional audio transformers for over 25 years now. I know my stuff, and have tested transformers from all of the very best manufacturers, vintage and new production, likeJorgen Shou JS, Western Electric, Langevin, Marinair, Parmeko, Partridge, UTC, Tamura, Peerless, Triad, Thordarson, Chicago, Beyerdynamic, Altec, Telefunken, Malotki, Siemens, Seinnheiser, Lundahl, Raphaelite, Haufe, Pikatron, Sowter, etc.

It's just perfect for most low impedance MC cartridges.

Buy this and use it to make your preferred moving coil cartridges come alive. This transformer was born to shine with the best cartridges from Ortofon, Shure, Denon, Accuphase, Goldring, Nagoka, Audio Technica, ADC, Roksan, Rega, Koetsu, Grado, Clearaudio, Sumiko, Benz Micro, My Sonic Lab, Hana, ZYX, Miyajima, Vertere Acoustics, Ana Mighty Sound, Charisma Audio, Allnic Audio, Soundsmith, Lyra, Acoustical Systems, MoFi, Shelter, etc.

The inductance is high and the resistance of the windings are low. This is a SOLID option!

Get these while you can!

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 limitations (yes, still), I can't ship to Australia. Don't ask me why......
