Description:

Small autograph book containing 195 pages. No ownership inscription and no dates found. From the manuscript style and the prints we estimate the seond half of the nineteenth century, but it could be earlier.

51 pages of hand drawn sketches or drawings, 6 pages of photographs with (we assume printed) signatures, 74 pages of hand written dedications or poems in English and 64 pages with prints glued to the page. Not dated to any of the pages with the handwriting and text looking mid to late nineteenth century.

The pen and ink sketches are very small but executed in a good hand with very good detail.

A small book with a black leather spine and two marbled paper boards. Repaired at some point with a strip of leather stuck, crudely, to the spine. A nice little momento from the mid to late 1800s. 

Approximately 7 ½ inches wide by 5 ½ inches tall.

• Spine – fair to good condition – worn, repaired with a strip of black leather stuck to both boards, structurally strong, crudely repaired.
• Joints – good condition – rubbed, repaired.
• Corners – good condition – bumped and worn.
• Boards – good condition – rubbed and worn.
• Page edges – good condition – shaken and uneven.

Internally

• Hinges – poor condition – strained and cracked.
• Paste downs – good condition – prints stuck to the paste downs, front and rear, darkened.
• End papers – fair condition – hand written pages.
• Pages – fair to good condition – hand written, prints, sketches, pen and ink and pencil.
• Binding – fair condition – crudely repaired.
