Now for sale is this old full-size cello, which has been recently restored to the highest standards and made 'playable' once again. It is of German origin, most probably made in the mid 1800's, and the luthier used very good quality selected Spruce and flamed Maple for the body, with ebony fingerboard employed. The Fingerboard had deep track-lines on it, suggesting it had been widely used. ~These have now been dressed out and the fingerboard resurfaced. There are 3 (secured) cracks on the belly, but none of them anywhere near the soundpost area. All the cracks are now secured, using acccepted repair techniques and a photo of these taken before the belly was re-affixed will be made available to the buyer. The pegbox is sound, with no cracks, and is fitted with what are believed to be the original boxwood pegs.
The cello has been 'treated' to a new set of Larsen 'Il Cannone' (Bright and Focussed) strings, which greatly help to enable the warm , clear and sonerous sounds escape from the instrument. It really is a beautiful sounding and easy to play cello, which more than makes up for the 'cosmetic' discrepancies!! No 'Wolf tones'!! Certainly,  an instrument  for the advanced/expert player, and because of this it is expected  the buyer will have already selected their own bow of choice. The sale includes a very good black 'Hiscox' case. Any trial before you buy is warmly welcomed (a trial bow can be made available for this).
