The most famous play in college football history took place at the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Day in 1954.

Rice halfback DICKY MOEGLE broke loose and was headed down the sideline when Tommy Lewis came off the sideline and tackled the Owls star. Dicky was awarded a touchdown as Rice went on to beat Alabama, 28-6 that day.

Sophomore QB Bart Starr played sparingly in the game.
