This was one of the first references to try and put all these items in one volume. it covers the following; Cartridge Belt sets, Knapsacks, Haversacks, Footwear, Mess Equipment, Entrenching Tools, Gas Masks, Tents/Rain Gear and Miscellaneous. There is a 16 page color plate section depicting uniforms of the various countries of the time period. Also included are 17 pages of illustrations of world military equipment of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Appendix E there are 11 full page b/w photos of the Infantrymen of the China Relief Expedition, 1900-1901. Appendix D Care of the Collection has some good information. The author was the Curator of Arms and Armor at the West Point Museum and features prominently in the color photo section. In all this is a great reference for any historian, collector or modeler.
