Unopened 2004 Altoids Democratic Convention Tin - Vertical Type

The 2004 Democratic National Convention convened from July 26 to 29, 2004 at the Fleet Center (now the TD Garden) in Boston, Massachusetts, and nominated Senator John Kerry from Massachusetts for president and Senator John Edwards from North Carolina for vice president, respectively, in the 2004 presidential election.

This convention was famous because it included the keynote speech of Barack Obama, who would go on to be elected President four years later. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson served as chairman of the convention, while former presidential advisor to Bill Clinton, Lottie Shackelford, served as vice chairwoman.

Altoids were President George W. Bush's favorite mints and Altoids was asked to make tins with the presidential seal in the 1.76 ounce size for visitors to the oval office and a smaller tin with the seal to those who rode on Air Force One with him. This led to the making of Official Altoids Convention Tins for both the Democrats and Republicans. The only way to get one was to be there.

There were two differant tins for the Democrats: The “The National Tin” (not show here and not being sold) is horizontal, showing the donkey in the middle, with the capital building on the left and the White House on the right. This tin is “The  Boston Tin” is vertical, showing the Democratic donkey in the center with the Boston skyline in the upper right corner.

These Democratic convention tins are sealed and in pristine condition - no dents, no scratches. There are only twelve of these available. A perfect holiday gift as well as a fantastic edition to anyone's Altoids collection!!
