Additional information

This is an exceptional example of a 1930's Waterman 5552 ½ V black  hardrubber pen with a solid gold overlay.

The French 1931 catalog mentions this pen as the "Décor X" pattern (see picture)

I believe that the pen was manufactured by Waterman’s in the USA and then reworked by the French Waterman subsidiary (JIF) in France for the overlay with the French hallmarks for solid gold (Eagle head). The hallmarks are stamped on the cap, the body and the clip.

The #2 nib is perfect, with a very nice flex.

Note the back of the nib (marked 18 KT #2 IDEAL with the solid gold hallmark)

The pictures are self-explanatory.

The pen itself is in exceptional condition: No scratches, dings, blemish or cracks.

A new sac has been fitted and the pen is fully operational.

It weighs 20 grams.

Comes boxed with instructions (in French).
