I AM NOT SELLING A KIT, only TWO new, full-size copies of BOTH Air Trails & Berkeley kit PLANS for Betty Skelton's PITTS SPECIAL UC scale model so you can build your own. 

Betty Skelton took the aerobatic world by storm with her PITTS SPECIAL, LITTLE STINKER, which hangs in the Smithsonian as a result. The red & white color scheme has never been equaled---everyone would know the owner copied her famous layout.

In 1950, Air Trails published Aubrey Kochman's outstanding model and later Berkeley developed a kit (under someone else's name). This PITTS SPECIAL model has a 25" span with stunt airfoils and was powered by the reliable Ohlsson & Rice .29. Today a good Fox, OS or Enya .15 or .19 would do just fine. Of course, all the necessary parts patterns are clearly shown on this huge PLAN. The boy painting his Berkeley model was on an old Flying Models cover. 

I have a very large packet of original documents for the PITTS SPECIAL model and actual airplane. From my vintage originals I include copies of the Air Trails construction article with its amazing cutaway, McLaren’s MAN article and several pages of scale documentation. You’ll not find a more thorough offering.

The Air Trails PLAN is NOT at all the Berkeley kit PLAN for the PITTS SPECIAL. The Berkeley PLAN does not have all the parts patterns on it and would not be as useful in building your model. But, having built the Berkeley kit (it is still on my shop wall) I know these full-size magazine plans are far better because they have all of the patterns that you will need.

This magazine PLAN is also superior to the Berkeley kit because it has a carved balsa nose cowling whereas Berkeley had stamped steel nose cowling parts which rusted out at the solder seams. This original Air Trails PLAN shows the nose cowling made from balsa, so you'll have a great success making the front end on this plane that can be painted to last---and not to chip off as happened with the old stamped steel cowls in the kit.
