Beautiful antique embroidered pillow
Decorated with Society Silk of Silk Art Embroidery, a style popular from about 1877 to 1912 (overlapping the Art Nouveau era of 1890-1910)
This pillow features an ode to those born in July against a fence and large red and salmon flowers stitched with silk thread
The front fabric appears to be a silk blend, the back is a solid olive green cotton/linen type fabric
It has a soft, slightly lumpy filling
Signed by the maker with the stitched initials "MARS" in upper righthand corner
No odors, minor surface imperfections including a couple faint spots / light soil, only one of the "jewels" attached to the sign on the fence remains (two remain on smaller embroidered fence)
A very lovely and unique throw pillow for your period home
