Designed by Bjorn Wiinblad for Rosenthal studio-line of Germany in 1961 - these pieces were bought in the late 1970’s. Mid Century Modern design is still contemporary despite being over 50 years old.  This rarely found versatile piece is known as a gravy bowl but it can be used for a variety of sauces, nuts, candies, olives etc.  The bowl has an attached under-plate and a removable domed lid with gold knob on top.  The under-plate, bowl, and lid are embossed with a geometric pattern of ovals, lines, and dots creating a white-on-white texture, with gold accents. Typical of fine china of this calibre, the porcelain is translucent and delicate-looking yet durable. The overall measurements are: 14.3 cm. (5-5/8 in.) high to top of lid’s knob; 17.3 cm. (6 ¾in.) diameter saucer; and the bowl easily holds more than 355 ml. (1.5 cups) liquid. Has never been used so is in excellent condition like new, with no chips, cracks, scratches, shelf-ware, or gold loss.  Comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home.
