Description

Offered here is this Gorgeous 19th Century Slant Front Secretary. The secretary is in very good condition. The little shelves and cubbies inside are secure and in good condition. The secretary has an inlaid writing surface on the inside of the front slant door that is in need of repair, or possibly replacement. It is coming up at the corners and edges, and is very stained from use. There are a good amount of stains on the wood in this area as well. The piece is lockable, and does have a key with it. It has the original metal hardware, which is also in great condition. There is an amazing burled panel offset on the front of the slant door. There are some light surface scratches to the finish from general use. The writing surface is 16" wide. The secretary drawers have dowel joints. The secretary is 61.5" tall at most, it is 17" wide front to back, and about 28" long side to side, and the writing surface opens down to 16" in length. I am unsure of the exact age of the piece, but I believe that it dates to the 1850s to 1890s. It is known as Henry style but it is very similar to Eastlake Style in design. It is an absolutely amazing Antique secretary with some lovely details that is sure to be a treasured addition to your collection.
