Extremely rare plush stuffed toy from Clares Creations. To call it simply a plush really isn't even applicable, Clares Creations, were designed by Clare Shapiro. Ms. Shapiro was a toymaker who started on her own company  in 1948!
She used the finest materials available at the time to create childrens toys sold in high end toy shops. Princess Grace even bought some to take to her children.
I have found several ads on newspaper archive for her sweet toys. Her archives were donated to City of New York Museum in 1986.

These may be a  dangle crib toy with the hook on top. Obviously, NOT for today's safe standards it has bells on its tentacles :) Not for childrens play AT ALL.
This sweet toy came from a huge estate of a wealthy family with many children, so it has some wear as described below and above.

Condition-Needs mending. One tentacle has come away from main body on underside, some seams on the tentacles need to be stitched up. Missing a black felt pupil on eye. The toy is painted a light black (not dirt) but does have a few light brown spots.
