White Cotton Lawn & Embroidery

This sweet and charming antique girl's dress is in rare excellent, clean and flawless condition, probably never worn. Made from pure white, sheer and delicate cotton lawn fabric embroidered with tiny blossoms and dots. A 1-1/2" wide white satin ribbon is inserted along the waist to bow at the front. The gathered bodice is roomy and expansive. The wide V-shaped collar has a gathered ruffle, which is attached to the collar with a row of faggotting. This 2-1/2" ruffle edge has pin tucks, embroidered flowers, and a scalloped, embroidered clean-finished edge.Six rows of decorative shirring gathers the fabric at the waist. The skirt is full and edged with the same ruffle as the collar. Short sleeves are gathered and embroidered. The scalloped sleeve ends are not elastic. Closes in back with three small mother-of-pearl buttons and snaps along the collar. Embroidered tag mysteriously states "55." Will probably fit 18-24 month old child.
