We received all day devices that are being liquid damaged, and we don't think apple made any good solution on most of their phones for being waterproof or water resistance on some good level, so we don't have any certification however we always use water resistance tape on our repair.

No, we don't need password to repair your device however before repairing the device and after repairing the device we check some general functionalities such as camera speaker charging wireless charging etc, and it's easier to check those items if we have password.
Otherwise, sometime it will consume longer time and hassle to rectify those issues if we don't have password.
