Late 1950s  Excellent for stock footage use. There are no tripod shots on the entire reel of Regular 8mm Home Movie (Mid-Century Florida Room, Christmas, Beach Scenes). All shots are hand held on this amateur film.  The "Florida Room" shots at the end of the reel run 45 seconds at 18fps.

This family film begins with scenes of a mid-century home next to a canal—good scenes by a family trip to the South Florida beach. Brief shot of the facade of the Mai-Kai, a historic Polynesian-themed restaurant and tiki bar located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It has operated since 1956 and is renowned for its immersive atmosphere, exotic cocktails, and Polynesian-inspired cuisine—a trip to nature featuring tall pine trees and a canal. The family opens Christmas gifts. Family members relax in a Florida room. Florida rooms usually have large windows, screens, or a combination, allowing ample natural light and ventilation. A "Florida room" refers to a specific type of enclosed living space commonly found in homes in Florida and other warm-weather regions. Florida rooms are also known by other names such as a "sunroom," "lanai," or "enclosed porch." New single-family home construction is in the distance in the front yard of the South Florida home as the family poses for more film shots.

This reel is typical of Florida in the late 1950s; many families from the northern parts of the United States sought respite from the cold winter weather by visiting South Florida during winter break and Christmas.

The family used cement splices to make this compilation roll. Overall, there is excellent color, no fading, and no vinegar smell. Cleaned, inspected, head and tail leader added. some splices were reinforced. This film is ready to project or to make a nice digital scan.
