1975 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 original vintage advertisement.

DESCRIPTION:

Chevrolet announces a very new small car. The Monza 2+2.

THE SMALL CARS TO COME, WON’T COME AS A SURPRISE. Not after you’ve driven the Monza 2+2. It's one of them that just happens to be here a little early.

2+2 EQUALS COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE. The standard Monza interior is everything you’d probably ask for, plus a few things you might not think of. The doors are padded. They have map pockets. The lock button is in a more convenient place in the armrest. The bucket seats are deep and comfortable. A sound insulation package runs throughout the body. And when you don't need the second 2 in 2+2, you can have a handy little wagon by folding down the rear seat back.

POWER VENTILATION SLOTS. Outside air is constantly pulled in from the front by a blower. After circulating, the air exits through a new place for American cars — these specially designed side ducts. Whenever the ignition is on, the blower runs on low, supplying outside air.

A GREAT BIG HATCHBACK. It’s a third door that opens up the whole back of the car and part of the roof for easy loading. The Monza 2+2's rear seats are individual bucket style. The seat back folds down, and with a space-saving spare tire that’s available, the whole back half of the car is a cut-pile carpeted, wagon-like flat floor. Which is exactly the idea behind the Monza 2+2.

INSTRUMENTATION FROM A TO T. Standard instruments run from ammeter to tachometer. There’s an engine temperature gauge and electric clock. The wood grain used throughout every Monza is simulated bird’s-eye maple. The standard four-spoke steering wheel is color-keyed to the interior, and it's a sport-size you'll like.

A LONG-DISTANCE FUEL TANK. Approximately 18½ gallons of fuel combine with Monza gas mileage for some extended cruising.

STEEL-BELTED RADIAL PLY TIRES. Standard, of course. Monza’s special suspension has been carefully tuned to them, for a total ride and handling package you'll appreciate. They are a new GM-Specification design and if you live in snow country, you may find they offer better traction in snow and wet.

AN IMPRESSIVE SPORTS SUSPENSION. Special ride components and handling equipment are plentiful throughout the Monza's inner workings. The rear suspension uses a torque arm to help isolate driving and braking forces from the body. A job that most cars use leaf springs or control arms for. In the Monza, the coil springs and shocks have only one job — to make the ride smooth. Front and rear stabilizer bars are standard also.

RECTANGULAR HEADLIGHTS. Expensive European cars have looked great with them. Now a not-so-expensive American car looks great with them.

WAY-AHEAD FRONT END. Way-ahead back end, too. Both have hydraulic bumper systems plus body-color panels that look like metal, but resist minor dings. First Monza you come across, touch and see.

STANDARD 2.3-LITRE ENGINE. This little 4-cylinder will make a lot of people happy, because it's the size and weight people like in a car this size. It has a lightweight block with a 2-barrel carburetor. It’s a nice balance between performance and tightfistedness, we think.

A 4.3-LITRE ENGINE. For 1975, Chevrolet has made available its smallest displacement V8 ever. This is a new power plant specially suited for the Monza. For those of you not up on your litres, it measures a nifty 262 cubic inches.

HAND-HIGH CENTER CONSOLE. Standard in all Monzas is a floor-mounted shift lever. The console is custom-styled and molded of a soft material and comes in five interior colors. The parking brake conveniently tucks down into its own neat little niche.

CHEVROLET’S NEW EFFICIENCY SYSTEM. It’s like the one that’s helping most of our other 1975’s run leaner, run cleaner and save money every mile. By run leaner, we mean more economically. By run cleaner, we mean meeting the tough, new Federal emission standards. Less expensive driving and cleaner air - two matters of great concern to all of us. And Chevrolet's really done something about them this year.

THE SYSTEM. It’s a group of specially engineered components. It includes a new catalytic converter exhaust system for cleaner air. A High Energy Ignition designed for surer starting. A General Motors- specification radial ply tire that’s undergone extensive testing. And other engine advancements.

THE BENEFITS. Good gas mileage: The High Energy Ignition delivers up to 85% hotter spark. The catalytic converter does most of the work to help clean the air. And the easy-rolling GM-Specification steel-belted radial ply tires help contribute to improved gasoline mileage. Quicker starts and warmups: Monza's hotter spark means extra punch in wet or cold weather. That's why it’s called our High Energy Ignition. And less recommended service: Spark plugscan now last up to 22,500 miles, instead of 6,000 miles. There are no points or ignition condenser to replace in the Monza. Oil changes and lubes are recommended further apart.

And tune-ups will be fewer and simpler. The 1975 Monza 2+2. Like we told you, it’s a very new small car.

Chevrolet makes sense for America.
