In a fine full leather binding with raised bands, gilt titles and gilt titles to the front board. With illustrations and maps in the text.

Marbled endpapers with prize plate to the front.

The author has chosen fifteen battles which changed history in some way and describes the context, the battle and the consequences. Marathon, Syracuse, Arbela, Metaurus, Chalons, Tours, Hastings, Orleans, Spanish Armada, Blenheim, Pultowa, Saratoga, Valmy, Waterloo.

• Page edges – good condition – all marbled.

• End papers – good condition – marbled, internal free end papers are tanned and gently foxed.
