These prototyping boards are experimental, untested and very niche. They are being sold in response to a customer's request for a prototyping board with a pitch suitable for SSOP parts.

They consist of rows and columns of rectangular solder pads with a pitch of 1.27 mm in one direction and 0.6425 mm in the other direction. A value of 0.6425 was chosen as a compromise between 0.635 mm and 0.65 mm. If the middle leads are aligned to the grid, an SSOP28 chip will only be 0.045 mm out-of-registration by the leads at either end.

The design should enable prototyping with SOP and SSOP SMD components.

As a compromise between rigidity and ease of cutting, the boards are 0.6 mm thick (FR4).

The solder pads are soldermask-defined, meaning that they are slightly overlapped by the soldermask which should reduce the risk of solder pads lifting.

The only finish currently available is leaded HASL.

A good quality magnifier, a microscope or a Zeiss Mk 3 bionic eye (not available in stores) are advisable to work at this scale. A fine soldering iron tip, fine solder and some skill will be needed to avoid unwanted solder bridges.

The pound coin featured in the photographs is for size reference and is not included in the sale.

Orders will be dispatched within one business day, using recycled packaging wherever viable.
