L'œuvre de Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755) a été largement diffusée et appréciée au 18e siècle. De nombreuses gravures ou réalisations dans les arts décoratifs en témoigne. La manufacture de Sèvres a repris les tableaux et gravures d'Oudry pour la création de statuettes en biscuit ou pour des motifs peints. De même l'orfèvre Jacques Röettiers (1707-1784) créé le surtout de table pour Louis de Bourbon-Condé (aujourd'hui au musée du Louvre) en 1733. Notre dessin reprend le tableau de Jean-Baptiste Oudry s'intitulant Cygne attaqué par un chien de 1745 (au North Carolina Museum of Art). Faut-il voir dans notre dessin un projet pour l'orfèvrerie, pour la porcelaine ?

The work of Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755) was widely disseminated and appreciated in the 18th century. Many engravings or achievements in the decorative arts bear witness to this. The Sèvres factory has taken over Oudry's paintings and engravings for the creation of biscuit statuettes or for painted motifs. Similarly, the goldsmith Jacques Roettiers (1707-1784) created the top-table for Louis de Bourbon-Condé (now at the Louvre Museum) in 1733. Our drawing takes the painting of Jean-Baptiste Oudry entitled Swan attacked by a dog from 1745 (at the North Carolina Museum of Art). Should we see in our drawing a project for silverware, for porcelain?
