Helping to downsize my 93 year old grandmother’s estate. Up for auction is a beautiful firkin bucket that has been in our family for as long as she can recall. She can remember it coming from her great grandfather - a farmer from Eaton, Ohio Jewry Orson Humphrey (1832-1902). He was a farmer in Eaton Ohio and I’ve included a photo of his civil war draft registration that states his occupation. My grandmother says that they always called it a biscuit bucket - I guess because these often held flour or sugar.

A sturdy bucket with staved construction featuring a metal band on the bottom and wooden band on top. It appears to be untouched with original handle and lid. All is sturdy and tight but there are some abrasions and wear. Most significant on the lid where the wood split from the nail. The chips are not deep enough to expose the bucket but please look at the pictures carefully as they are also part of my description

The bucket is approx 9.5” diameter and 9.5” tall.

I am not a collector of these so please be sure to look at all photos and ask any questions you have.
