Hungarian Military Office Armed with Ceremonial Sword and Dress in Budapest 1884


This is an outstanding cabinet photo of a high-ranking Hungarian military officer in 1884 (dated on back). He holds an elaborately decorated sword. The photo is inscribed on the back (likely in Hungarian) with a note, signature, and another date of 1890. 


This photo is in good condition. It shows evidence of age, wear, foxing, various marks, creases, rubbing to extremities, toned paper, and worn corners. Please inspect photos to ensure condition is to your liking.

These images come from a family photo album and may show members of the powerful Csak, Csesneky family who occupied Trencsin Castle, which in now located in the Trencsen district in North Western Slovakia. The photos collected in the album display families in very fine fashion, high-ranking military officials, and university professors.
