I AM NOT SELLING A KIT, only a new, full-size copy of a Berkeley kit PLAN + PARTS PATTERNS to build a 38" span UC or RC scale model HELIOPLANE

Pop shared his experience of when he reported for U.S. Army flight class OFWAC 60-7 at Ft. Rucker, AL in the 1960s to learn to fly the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog and deHavilland BEAVER. “I was surprised to see another STOL bird on the flight line, the HELIOPLANE. The Army had bought one for extensive testing as a possible replacement for the venerable L-19. The idea was to develop a spotter aircraft that was as versatile as the German FIESELER FI 156 STORCH in World War II.”

“The HELIOPLANE had a 9' propeller that was turned over by multiple V-belts at 1200 RPMs as compared to the 2150 RPMs of the Bird Dog. It would jump off the ground in a shorter distance but the maintenance would have been a nightmare. The inventory was full of L-19s so the HELIOPLANE had too much catching up to do to replace them.”

My last 2 pictures are of an Air Trails PLAN & construction article by Henry Struck of his 1/2A control line HELIOPLANE. I list this one separately. Keep it in mind for a future build.
