Bank deposit and withdrawal book, for Wilkins and Co, Bankers in the name of Penry Boyle Williams from the year 1874 (first deposit) to 1881.

A vellum bound volume still intact and tightly bound with the owner’s name hand written to the cover.Wrap-around volume with a vellum 'toungue' and 'groove' clasp. Pocket at the front of the volume.

Penry Boyle Williams is covered in the Welsh National Library newspaper section with his death in 1894.

On the inside first page is the location in wales or on the Welsh border and with the banks “Barnett Hoares and Co” in Brecon, Merthyr Tidfil, Aberdare, Llanelly and Cardiff, and “Williams Deacon and Co” in Carmarthen, Cardigan and Haverfordwest. 

On the next 2 pages is the Wilkins and Co branch in Brecon showing a deposit and withdrawal in October 1874 for £50 each.

Entries on the following pages span 1875 to 1881 with sums as large as £500 being deposited (worth over £50,000 today) and withdrawals of £10 (over £1000) and greater a month being taken.

Scarce. A really nice historical item associated with Brecon, the Williams family in Brecon and with Barnett Hoares & Co (eventually part of Lloyds Bank), Williams Deacon & Co (eventually part of RBS) and Wilkins & Co Bankers.
