Offered is a striking pitcher with handle by Fischer J done in Budapest Hungary in the late

19th century. Fischer J. Budapest was founded by Ignace Fischer in Pest, Hungary, in

1864. (Pest is the eastern half of modern Budapest which was united with the western

half, Buda, in 1873). His pieces bear the mark “Fischer J.” with the “J” being the same

letter as “I” in Hungarian. The Fischer factory was bought by Zsolnay Pottery in 1895. The

pitcher here is marked on the underside with a blue stamp, "Patent", "Fischer J",

"Budapest". It stands 7 inches high and is approximately 7 inches from the outside of the

handle to the opposite side of the pitcher itself. There is are no nicks, chips, hairlines, etc.

It is in excellent condition. The pitcher is handsomely decorated with a floral motif in nine

bright colors beautifully enhanced with gold outlining. The rich deep olive color as

background works perfectly helping to make this a dazing example of Fisher at its best.
