I acquired these years ago at an estate sale.
The estate was one of a former military man as well as a woman that was very proficient at sewing, knitting, and crafting.

I can only guess the era.  It was mixed in a group of things ranging from the 1940s through the 1960s.
They are very thick and very wool feeling.

They would be perfect over a pair of socks as wool is very warm, but very scratchy against the skin.
During the 1940s and 50s, women often used socks to make dolls and stuffed animals.  I am very familiar with these and my Mama told me during the 1930s, they would use old worn-out clothing, stockings, and straw to stuff them.  I don't know if these were actually bought to be used as socks or for toy-making.

They look brand new with just wear from being stored for decades.
