Warmth and weight go hand in hand when the insulation of this jacket is brought up! Due to it being insulated with Thinsulate Ultra you can be warm without feeling as though you are carrying an extra 10–15 pounds around, nice, right? Thinsulate is more effective due to the increased density of fibers with decreased size of fibers compared with more traditional insulation. Like most insulation materials, the gaps between fibers not only reduce heat flow, but also allow moisture to escape. The insulation properties are beneficial for retaining some of the heat produced by the body for comfortable warmth while the moisture produced, most likely sweat, is supposed to evaporate. It continues to retain its insulating properties when wet. 

*YKK ZIPPERS*

 What is so special about YKK zippers? You may be asking… Well, YKK adopts the self-locking puller technology in the zippers, which makes it easy to pull and lock without slipping. This design enables you to move around, and your zipper will always stay in place. Let's be honest, sounds much better than a zipper that continuously comes off track or get jammed every other day, doesn't it?

The removable hood (via zipper) can be adjusted with the Velcro strip on the back, and elastic cords located in the front on both sides close to the chin. This multi functional hood even has an extended brim to help keep the sun out of your face, so a billed hat or visor are unnecessary. You know what else is unnecessary when wearing the hood? A scarf! There is no need for a scarf when you can simply velcro and snap the front bottom section of it… Plus, if you chose to do so, the entirety of your neck up to your chin will be nice and cozy, as well as protected from the all the elements.
