Hello, for sale is a beautiful pair of antique Art deco spring-loaded folding lorgnette eyeglasses opera spectacles-magnifier glasses. Made of sterling silver frame with geometric bakelite panes on the handle sides. It is also richly engraved with periodical geometric ornaments. There no lenses, frame only. Marked 935 on bridge and Austrian import mark for after 1922 period, in my opinion made in France. 


Condition: original as is on photos very good preserved working excellent open/close well. Was used gently. Please, see all photos to be sure what I'm offering as they are part of the item description.


Measures: 4” across when open and 4” tall when closed;

1.5” dimeter of lenses

The lorgnette was usually used as a piece of jewelry, rather than to enhance vision. Fashionable ladies usually preferred them to spectacles. These were very popular at masquerade balls and used often at the opera. They were worn popularly in the 19th century. The lorgnette was employed as a prop and affectation by early 20th century
